Bait is the heart of fishing in Hooked.
It determines what kind of bonuses you get when you cast, and plays a huge role in how you shape your fishing style.
Every time you cast your line, 1 bait is consumed, so choosing the right bait matters.
🧰 Quick Start: How Bait Works
Getting started with bait is simple:
- Click the Fishing Hook to open your HUD menu
- Open your Tacklebox to view your bait
- Equip the bait you want to use
- Each cast will consume 1 bait
To buy more bait:
- Click the Fishing Hook to open your HUD menu
- Click Buy Bait
- Choose a type and quantity
- Confirm your purchase
When you switch locations:
- The allowed bait types for that location will automatically show under your Stats panel
- If a bait isn’t allowed, you won’t be able to use it there

Each bait gives a specific bonus to your fishing results.
🪱 Worms (Level 1)
- Bonus: No bonus
- Your starting bait — simple and reliable
🌽 Corn (Level 1)
- Bonus: Increased Junk Finds
- Great for quests or farming junk items
✨ Glow Worms (Level 2)
- Bonus: Increased Bite Chance
- More bites = more chances to catch something
🦐 Shrimp (Level 3)
- Bonus: Increased Rare Fish Chance
- Perfect when you’re hunting those harder-to-find fish
💪 Powerbait (Level 4)
- Bonus: Increased XP Gain
- Best choice when leveling up fast
🩸 Bloodworms (Level 5)
- Bonus: Increased Fish Points
- Ideal when you’re trying to earn currency quickly

Do I lose bait if nothing bites?
Nope!
If you cast and don’t get a bite, your bait is not consumed.
When do I lose bait?
You lose bait only if you get a bite.
- If you successfully reel in → bait is used
- If you fail or don’t reel in in time → bait is still used
Why can’t I use certain bait in a location?
Each fishing location only allows specific bait types.
You can always check what’s allowed in your Stats panel after selecting a location.
Why can’t I use Tournament Bait?
Tournament Bait is exclusive to tournaments only and won’t work anywhere else.
